Discover Time To Eat Café

Stepping into Time To Eat Café on 7351 Theodore Dawes Rd, Theodore, AL 36582, United States instantly feels like coming home. From the moment I walked in, the warm, welcoming atmosphere set the tone for a relaxed meal, with the faint aroma of freshly brewed coffee and sizzling breakfast skillets filling the air. This spot has long been a favorite for locals, and after spending several weekends sampling the menu, it’s clear why.

The first thing that stands out is the variety and freshness of the offerings. Their breakfast menu is a true delight, ranging from hearty omelets packed with vegetables and meats to fluffy pancakes that are perfectly golden on the outside and soft in the middle. During one visit, I tried their signature eggs benedict, and it was exceptional-the hollandaise sauce was creamy yet tangy, balancing the savory flavors of the smoked ham flawlessly. Pairing it with a side of hash browns made for a meal that was both satisfying and comforting. Many customers have shared similar experiences in reviews, praising the consistency of each dish, which speaks volumes about the café’s dedication to quality.

Lunch at Time To Eat Café is equally impressive. The sandwiches and burgers are not just typical diner fare; they are crafted with attention to detail. The turkey club sandwich, for instance, comes layered with fresh lettuce, ripe tomatoes, and perfectly toasted bread, demonstrating a simple yet effective approach to flavor. One notable feature is the portion size, which is generous without being overwhelming, ensuring that diners leave feeling full but not weighed down. • To start, this restaurant has a smoking section that is not well vented and is close to the register. This is a huge negative for anyone who is looking to enjoy the taste of a meal and the overall atmosphere. It is a bit sad because the decor is extremely fascinating with a collection of clocks that could be a room in a museum. The food was decent but nothing exceptional except the french toast which I was encouraged to try. The flavors were terrific. The sausage gravy was also good as well as the biscuits. They did up charged for a small piece of link sausage. Everything else was just normal breakfast. If they'd shut down the smoking, I definitely consider going back.

  • Awesome little cafe in Mobile, the decor was interesting with a click for every occasion. The food was good but kinda bland and the pancakes were tough. Everything else was good. Better than east a fast food place for breakfast anytime.

  • Note beforehand: This is one of the only places I've been in with a dedicated smoking section beforehand. I didn't notice a smell, probably because people don't smoke as often. But, that is a thing here. Now, the food is great. It is truly home-style Southern cooking. They have a pretty diverse menu with everything from their famous burgers to red beans and rice with connecuh sausage. You won't be getting canned baked beans, everything tastes like it was made from scratch, with care. The portion sizes haven't changed, and they are certain to leave you with a full belly. The ambience here is unique, as every inch of the walls are covered with clocks of all shapes and sizes. It's honestly a tourist location just for that fact alone. Bonus: bring a clock for the wall and you get a free slice of pie, and you'll be part of Mobile/Theodore history in a way.

  • Of all the places my granddaughter could have had her 9th birthday party she chose “Time to Eat”! The staff went out to their way to provide us with a fabulous experience! When Emmy walked in the banquet room and saw the balloons and special tablecloths, her mouth fell open and she squealed with joy! The food was delicious! The kids choose chicken fangers and fries ( reasonably priced) and they made them special “pink lemonade”! Everyone had a blast! The adults ordered some fried green tomatoes and a couple of seafood dinners. I look forward to doing this more often! “Take your feet to Time to Eat”

  • Delicious food. You could tell it was fresh. The service was all by highschool kids but they were EXTREMELY helpful and polite. They went above and beyond even when we were, by our own admission, in the wrong. They ask for a tip when you pay at all these types of restaurants now. And I always think, "Why would I tip now? I don't even know if it's gonna be a good experience." Well, this time I went back and tipped. There was a young male that was exceptional even though they were all MORE THAN accommodating. Not to mention that when we left we were actually full. My body felt good. I felt like it was telling me, "Now, that is food. Give me more of that and less of the Golden Arches down the street"

  • I am still thinking about the AMAZING Clock Collection of Time to Eat Café! I was in absoulte awe walking in, seeing clocks that reminded me of my childhood! My group of 6 was sat promptly, our Server had classic Southern Hospitality and we enjoyed everthing. My SouthWestern Omelette was delicious, filling and priced better than anywhere else on the Gulf Coast. I know why they earned "Best Cooking in Mobile."

  • Had dinner her with our large group while traveling through the area. Quirky decor with all the clocks made for a fun atmosphere. All our meals were excellent with generous portions. All the staff were very friendly with excellent service. We had a great time!
